In some cases it is possible to do a fixed detachable prosthesis utilizing only four implants. This technique is often referred to as "All-on-Four".
Benefits of a fixed bridge on implants:
When all teeth are missing or in such condition that they need to be replaced, a fixed bridge anchored to dental implants is the best permanent solution
Before dental implants, there were no fixed solution available for people who lost all their teeth. Today, it is possible to replace a full jaw with dental implants and a fixed bridge that results in a permanent, stable and high esthetic solution.

The treatment procedure and number of visits is largely dependent on the specific conditions of each patient. In some cases, "teeth in a day" procedures can be done. Most patients report that they were much more comfortable following the procedure than they had anticipated. There are two basic approaches:implant retained non-removable teeth and implant retained removable dentures. Non-removable teeth can either be denture teeth attached to a metal framework or fixed porcelain bridges emerging from the gums like natural teeth. Common terms used to describe these treatments are: hybrid prosthesis, "all on four", "teeth in a day". Implant retained dentures are referred to as overdentures. These treatment options are explained below.
Replacement of All Teeth with Crowns and Bridges Supported by Dental Implants
Replacement of the entire dentition with dental implants is possible for patient with adequate bone. This course of treatment usually involves placement of 8-10 implants. Utilizing standard crown and bridge techniques the lost teeth can be replicated re-establishing the natural relationship of the teeth and restore proper function and esthetics. The teeth emerge naturally from the gums.
Implant Fixed Bridge
Replacement of all teeth with a screw retained implant denture that the patient cannot remove. It can only be removed by a Dentist. "Teeth-In-A-Day" procedures are often used. This type of prosthesis is called a Fixed Detachable Prosthesis or Hybrid. Only 4-6 implants are required.
